Communications - Key points
- The importance of formulating a communications strategy
and how this can be taken forward.
- Monitor the effectiveness of your communications about
the proposals for improved service and/or their
implementation. Do you have a system or mechanisms
in place to do this? How is the feedback acted upon or
taken into account? Is there good liaison between the
communication professionals in the organisation and those
leading on partnership?
- Identify any needs for communication skills training and
development among champions and other leaders in the
partnership.
- Check that your communications are accessible to local
communities (in terms of languages spoken/read) and to
all employees.
- Evaluate the content of written communications using
'plain English' standards.
- Ensure that employees have opportunities for face-to-face
contact with senior managers (for example, at road
shows, walk-abouts) at regular intervals or key phases of
the change process.
- Evaluate the current content of the intranet and your
organisation's web pages. Do they give information on
the partnership and the work planned and/or in progress
to improve service delivery? Is the material up-dated on
a regular basis? Are the messages consistent? Does this
also apply to your other publications?
